The writing style that I’ve used so far is rhyming in my books, or rhymed prose. It is a poetic device that can be tricky to use because you must think about the rhythm of your book, or rhyming meter, while telling the story. You have a pattern of stressed or unstressed syllables to follow on each line (or sentence).
I chose this style because I like it – probably from reading so many Dr. Seuss books growing up.

I think it’s very fun to play with words and figure out how to tell a story and send a message using rhyme. You must get creative, rearrange, rethink, and redo. It’s exciting!
I won’t use rhyme in all my books since it can be limiting. Sometimes there are stories that require more explanation to get a better understanding of something.
